Associated works, not general building work.
Most commercial roof refurbishments touch more than the roof. Purlins are found corroded once the sheet comes off. Wall cladding needs coordinating with the eaves detail. Asbestos-containing materials need licensed removal before a strip-out can start. Access, containment and temporary protection have to be managed across all of it, in a building that is usually still operating.
These works are offered where they are necessary to complete, support or coordinate a roofing or envelope refurbishment. TRS is a specialist roofing and envelope contractor: we do not offer general construction work unrelated to the roof or envelope. Typical scope sits around metal roofing, flat roofing and gutters and rainwater systems, with scope established from a combined roof and interface survey.
Coordinating associated works under one managed contract can reduce duplicated preliminaries and interface risk. The commercial benefit is project-specific. Some elements are delivered by TRS operatives and others by TRS-managed specialist teams coordinated under the TRS contract; specialist structural, scaffold, temporary-works and system design is provided or checked by competent designers appointed for the relevant discipline. Scope of works
Works associated with roof and envelope refurbishment
Scope is established from a combined roof and interface survey. Some elements are delivered by TRS operatives, others by TRS-managed specialist teams coordinated under the TRS contract; responsibilities are set out per element before work starts.
Wall Cladding & Flashings
Composite panel, built-up and rainscreen wall cladding, together with associated flashings, coordinated with the roof detailing at eaves, verge and abutment.
Purlin & Secondary-Steel Repairs
Corroded or inadequate purlins, side rails and cladding rails repaired or replaced while the covering is open, under a temporary-works design by an appointed competent designer.
Builders' Work & Local Substrate Repairs
Localised repairs to upstands, parapets, kerbs, blockwork and substrates where the roofing or cladding cannot be completed properly without them.
Asbestos-Removal Coordination
Where licensed asbestos work is required, TRS coordinates it under the project arrangements using appropriately licensed specialists, including clearance requirements before roofing work proceeds.
Access, Scaffolding & Temporary Works
Scaffold, MEWP and edge-protection arrangements coordinated across the scheme, with scaffold and temporary-works design provided or checked by competent designers appointed for the discipline.
Openings, Penetrations & Service Interfaces
New and altered penetrations, plant supports, ductwork and service interfaces weathered and detailed in coordination with the roof system and the responsible service trades.
Gutters, Fascias, Soffits & Rainwater Interfaces
Perimeter details, fascias, soffits and rainwater interfaces addressed with the roof works so shared details are resolved once rather than twice.
Making Good Associated With Roofing Work
Making good internally and externally where roofing, cladding or structural works have disturbed finishes, limited to work arising from the contract.
Delivery
When associated works should form part of the roofing contract
Not every supporting item belongs in the roofing package. These are the situations where including it usually reduces risk, cost duplication or the gaps between separate trade packages.
Structural repairs exposed during strip
Purlin and secondary-steel defects only visible once the covering is removed, and best repaired while access is already in place.
Wall and roof interfaces
Eaves, verge and abutment details, and cladding replacement directly linked to the roof works.
Asbestos-containing materials
Where ACMs affect the sequence, licensed removal and clearance need coordinating before roofing proceeds.
Scaffold and access dependencies
Where several packages rely on the same access, splitting them duplicates cost and creates handover gaps.
Penetrations and temporary protection
Penetrations requiring coordinated weathering, and temporary protection over an operating building.

Where appointed as Principal Contractor, TRS carries the CDM duties across the associated works, reducing gaps between trade packages.
